Ok first an objective list: Handling, performance, luxury, etc. and then a list that includes emotional appeal as well. Please only use one model per chassis, so if you list a CL, do not also list the accompanying S class somewhere else on the list (unless the models are radically different).
I know it is hard to compare luxury sedans with sports car, but just do it gosh darnit!
1. S65 AMG Coupe: Impossibly gorgeous, insanely powerful, arguably the one of the best interiors ever made, great handling for its size
2. SLR McLaren: Stunning, great handling, bonafide supercar, incredibly powerful, still extremely desirable today
3. Maybach S600: A beautiful Rolls-Royce competitor with arguably the best interior ever made
4. SLS AMG Black Series: Best version of Mercedes’ beloved supercar, equipped with the best engine Mercedes ever made.
4. SL65 AMG (R231): Although the styling is controversial (I personally love it) It’s the best version of the best GT Mercedes has ever made. Incredible power and great handling.
5. CLS63 AMG S Shooting Brake
Arguably the sexiest wagon of all time coupled with over 550 horsepower and a beautiful interior
6. AMG C63 S (C205)
The successor to the amazing C204, better in every objective way, but it is missing some of the emotional appeal of the old one
7. C63 AMG (W204)
The best selling AMG of all time and has one of the best engines ever made
8. CLK63 AMG Black Series
The best of a very solid and powerful line of AMG c class coupes. Oh and Jeremy Clarkson called it the best car he ever drove (lol)
9. G63 AMG 6X6
By far the most ridiculous car Mercedes has ever made. It’s also sexy and has amazing offroad capability and a gorgeous handbuilt interior.
10. R63 AMG
A 500 Horsepower 4WD minivan. This had to make the list.
Top 10 best emotionally... I can’t decide on the order so I’ll just scatter some random contenders... DO NOT DO THIS IN THE COMMENTS
300SL Gullwing
560 SEC
AMG Hammer
SL73 AMG
W140 S600
OK, so now you’ve seen my picks. Now let me see yours!

Um. no. The SLR is really neat (I’ve been in one) but Both Mercedes and McLaren hated the end results and they aren’t even holding their values let alone appreciating. Any of the new benz are butt ugly. They all have SOME great design elements, but as a whole they are terrible (my opinion). The Original G wagon (461), The w113 (280sL), the W124, the w201 190e cosworth, 600 pulman, etc. All much cooler, and better cars.

I actually almost bought one of these 10 years ago with the V12 and all. Imported from Japan with about 90,000km’s was about $8K to my door. Considering it was well over $100K new I thought it was a damn steal. I’m still not sure why I did not go thru with it. I’m sure maintenance would of been atrocious but the car is pretty freaking sweet.

There are far too many modern Mercs on this list.
The SLR McLaren shouldn’t even be an honorable meniton.
The Gullwing should not be relegated to honorable mentions. This is blasphemy to those of us that grew up around old school Mercs. Hell, it should likely be #1.
Ditto the Hammer. And 560SEC.
The R-class shouldn’t be there.
I would put the G-wagen up there, but not the silly 6x6.
The first Black Series is the best Black Series. The only one that matters.
1) 300SL Gullwing
2) G-Wagen
3) W123 300D
4) 560 SEC
5) 450SEL 6.9
6) AMG Hammer
7) CLK 63 Black Series
8) R129 600SL
9) 600 “Grosser”
10) 190 Cosworth
Honorable mention:
W219 CLS500
Biturbo E63 AMG-S 4Matic Wagon
The hundreds of modern Mercedes variants carrying the epic 6.2 liter AMG motor under the hood.

SL73. Dear. Lord.
Not even joking, I do not think there has been a car with that much insanity and that much awesome stuffed into such a classy looking automobile since then.
I mean, gobs and gobs of power, the classiest modern SL, and more gobs and gobs of power.
The thing oozes power. And then Brabus got a hold of it!
Sorry, but as much as I respect the newest SL class, the R129 is still king of the hill in my books. “Old, but not obsolete.”

I get the feeling you think Mercedes built one car before the 1960s haha.
Mercedes SSK, or “Super Sport Kurz (Short)“. Designed by Ferdinand Porsche before he left to create Porsche, the SSK had a supercharged I6 engine and made a shit ton of power (300hp around 1930). These cars won multiple races, and the Count Trossi Version above has won best of show at least twice in separate Concours d’Elegance events.
The Blitzen-Benz. This car had 21.5L of I4 power and broke no fewer than three land speed records between 1909 and 1911.
W100 600, AKA The Grosser. Owned by more celebrities, despots and controversial figures than just about any other vehicle, seeing one of these pull up outside your home in the ‘70s meant you were either going to meet someone famous or get your hands chopped off for voting the wrong way. With pneumatic power-everything and a 6.3L V8 engine, this flagship model surpassed the luxury of the next two flagship vehicles Mercedes produced after it went out of production in 1981.
CLK GTR. 22 races; 17 wins. to qualify for the FIA GT championship, Mercedes made 25 of these literal street-legal race cars. They haven’t made anything for the street as batshit insane as the CLK GTR since.
W125 Rekordwagen. 725hp. 268mph. 1937. Need I say more?
The 300SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe. The 300SLR win the 1955 Mille Miglia with an average speed of just under 98mph. Mercedes Exec Rudolf Uhlenhaut thought this was just dandy, and had one of the SLRs made into his company car. It was an enclosed SLR that could do 180mph on public roads, and did so frequently. A couple journalists from Automobile Revue spent 2,000 miles in the Uhlenhaut Coupe, and said this of it: “ We are driving a car which barely takes a second to overtake the rest of the traffic and for which 120 mph on a quiet motorway is little more than walking pace. With its unflappable handling through corners, it treats the laws of centrifugal force with apparent disdain. ”
Doing a complete 180, the first-gen CLS was a vehicle like no other before it, smashing rear headroom into nonexistence to create what some tumescent marketing person called the 4-door coupe. The car was such a revelation that BMW and Audi couldn’t ignore it and created their own versions (the Gran Coupe and A7). This vehicle altered the very design of future cars to come.
Mercedes W123. Available as a sedan, coupe, or wagon, Mercedes produced almost 2,700,000 of these cars over a 9 year span. They were economical and reliable, and are still considered some of the best cars ever made.
Mercedes SLS AMG. It is a super car that can be driven to work every day and then taken to the track on weekends. It’s the first Mercedes to be designed and built entirely by AMG, and it houses the last naturally aspirated engine to appear in a Mercedes-Benz AMG vehicle.
The Benz Patent-Motorwagen. Genesis. Arguably the first car ever made, it kicked off the company that is seen as one of the best car makers in the world. Also, the first car ever to visit a “gas station”, be driven by a woman, have the carburetor cleaned (by said-woman, Bertha Benz), and the first car to ever receive a brake job, all on the same outing.

Just no.
Trying to condense all of the possibilities into such a short list is like trying to pick ten individual years to describe all of human history.
